River Oaks Pedestrian Trail

Location: San Jose and Santa Clara

PGAdesign was the design lead for the landscape portion of this one-mile pedestrian bicycle link from North First Street Light Rail in San Jose across the Guadalupe River to a Santa Clara neighborhood retail district. As part of the placemaking design, PGAdesign created resting nodes with interpretive signs at 800-foot intervals to encourage pedestrian use.

The project included a 350-foot bridge, wayfinding signage, site furnishings, tree protection, bike/pedestrian ramps and steps, and other landscape elements. Several agencies reviewed the project including: VTA, City of San Jose, City of Santa Clara, and the Santa Clara Valley Flood Control District.
