San Bruno BART

Location: San Bruno

PGAdesign was part of the team working on the BART expansion along the railway corridor south of San Francisco. At the San Bruno station, PGAdesign provided design/build landscape architectural services that enhance the Station’s unique character with individualized gateways and planting. The landscaping design provides enhanced visibility and safety at the bridge and tunnel intersection and have the added benefit of serving as a buffer for adjacent neighborhoods.  At the Station itself, the design provides wayfinding assistance for passengers.

To mitigate the impact of urban stormwater runoff, PGAdesign used biofiltration as an innovative approach, collaborating with civil engineers on the design and selecting plant species for that will provide filtering of stormwater while presenting a neat appearance and minimizing maintenance costs.
