Hesperian Boulevard Corridor Improvement Project
Location: San Lorenzo, Alameda County
Size: Over one mile of streetscape
Partners: Alameda county Public Works Agency
The Hesperian Boulevard Corridor Improvement Project is a complete street project in San Lorenzo, spanning over a mile of a busy commercial retail strip with few existing pedestrian amenities. As a significant beautification effort along an important county artery, the Hesperian Boulevard project provides important upgrades to the visual environment for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians along this route through unincorporated San Lorenzo.
PGAdesign prepared the construction documentation for the landscape component of the project. The corridor was interwoven with myriad over- and underground utilities. The challenge was to create a consistent, purposeful landscape design that improved the architecture of the street while avoiding utilities and adhering to agency setbacks requirements.
