25th Street Mini Park
Location: Oakland
In renovating the 25th Street Mini-Park, PGAdesign focused on sustainability and safety. Guided by input from community representatives, PGAdesign completed public presentations through construction documents for this project.
The project is Bay-Friendly Rated. Non-chemical materials control weeds and amend the plants, 90% of which were selected for low-water use. An efficient irrigation system further conserves water, and energy-efficient LED lighting illuminates the park.
Other sustainable design features include on-site stormwater treatment and concrete permeable paving. In addition, the rubber play surfacing that sits atop the permeable concrete is self-treating. This is one of Oakland’s first Bay-Friendly Rated Civic landscapes, complying with the City’s Green Ordinance.
