Montalvo Arts Center & Sculpture Garden
Location: Saratoga
Located within 175 acres of dramatic surroundings, the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California, was founded in 1912 as a private villa and was subsequently transformed into an artist residency in 1939. The Center has since become a world-class organization providing creative programs, events, performances, and experiences in an inspired environment.
Faced with its second century of existence, the Center hired PGAdesign to develop a Landscape Master Plan including careful studies and a framework for the property’s future growth. PGAdesign also completed Phase I documentation for refinements to the Great Lawn, a location that serves large-scale events. As in all their projects, PGAdesign’s work balances the site’s remarkable history with the Center’s programmatic needs as a contemporary, modern environment for the arts and creative exploration.
