San Leandro Tech Campus

Location: San Leandro

Project Type:

Size: 7.5 acres

Partners: Westlake Urban with RMW Architecture & Interiors

The 7.5-acre development in downtown San Leandro, led by Westlake Urban, is a multi-phase project that will provide three office buildings, a parking structure, housing, and pedestrian connections to the adjacent BART station. The project includes construction of a much needed connecting section of the Bay Trail, currently impacted by the BART station parking lot. The parcel of land, once home to the Del Monte canning factory and bound by two railway lines, stood vacant for many years. Now, the project’s first tenant is local software company OSIsoft, which has modernized San Leandro’s communication infrastructure with a fiber optic loop called Lit San Leandro. A 55-foot-tall steel mesh statue named “Truth is Beauty” by artist Marco Cochrane (originally made for Burning Man) serves as the focal point for the project.
