State-of-the-art office space, 335 units of housing, and ground-floor retail surround a publicly accessible central plaza at Menlo Portal. This private development creates an active, vibrant, mixed-use district that provides much-needed housing alongside public space and community amenities.
To protect against sea-level rise, the entire Menlo Portal site was raised five feet above existing grade. PGAdesign turned this challenge into an opportunity, using the grade change to add drama to the landscape and to define a collection of connected gathering spaces. Accessible paths are fully integrated into the space, creating the backbone of the design.
The office building consists of two levels of above-grade parking, lobbies, and commercial space, with one story of offices above. A public open space with seating and art separate the apartments and office building.
